Be Aware, Be Prepared!


The USI-MSH Emergency Response Team held its regular annual Disaster Preparedness Seminar and Emergency Drill last February 28-29, 2008 at MSH Gymnasium participated by the team leaders and members of different teams namely: Fire Brigade Team, Traffic and Crowd Control Team, Salvage Team and Rescue Team. Dr. Rene Tupue, the Executive Officer of the Emergency Response Team was also present in the said activity.

The two-day activity was realized to make each team functional and to foster disaster management awareness and readiness of the Institution and its occupants in times of calamities and emergencies, as well as, for purposes of complying with licensing requirements from different government licensing agencies and laws, statutes or ordinances.

The highlight on the first day was a lecture-presentation regarding typhoons from the “Typhoon Man of Bicol,” Mr. David Michael V. Padua. Thereafter, SP04 Elmer Pitallano and SWAT Team from the Naga City PNP shared their knowledge and expertise on Bomb Threats and other Explosive Devices.

The last day was also a lecture regarding Fire and Earthquake disaster and its preventive measures coming from the Naga City Bureau of Fire Protection with SPO3 Benjamin Lañada as keynote speakers.

In the afternoon was the actual drill also conducted by the Naga City of Fire Protection.
