St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Feast Day and
Hospital Day: Launching of New Vision - Mission

The Mother Seton Hospital Community celebrated the Feast Day of its Patroness, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, January 4, 2010. St. Elizabeth is the first United States born canonized saint in the Roman Catholic Church. She was a dedicated volunteer in charitable organizations, an educator and a catechist and had two great devotions: abandonment to the will of God and an ardent love for the Blessed Sacrament . To survive the initial difficulties of running a hospital, the Daughters of Charity needed a model of fortitude and they found it in the life of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.

Mass was held in her honor at the St. Louis de Marillac Chapel. Fr. Venerando Agner, CM, the Provincial Director of the Congregation of the Mission , was the main presider and was assisted by Fr. Vong Navarro, CM, Fr. Sonny Guadalupe, and Fr. Dan Tuason.

After the mass, the Hospital Administration awarded two of its employees who have retired after thirty years of dedicated service. They are: Mr. Lorenzo Labiccasi III, Admitting –Information Clerk (March 1, 1979 – February 28, 2009), and Mr. Juan Trinidad, Maintenance Supervisor (November 15, 1979 – November 14, 2009).

January 4, 2010 also marks a new milestone for USI – Mother Seton Hospital . On this day, the Hospital launched its New Vision – Mission . Sr. Asuncion G. Evidente , DC , President of the Universidad de Sta. Isabel, gave the opening message. She mentioned that the New Vision— Mission is very important for the Hospital for these will give the necessary direction and purpose in giving the best quality health care services for all Bicolanos. The New Vision—Mission was unveiled by Sr. Asuncion, Sr. Dolores C. Cornejo, DC, VP for Health Services, Sr. Remedios Tidor, DC, VP for Finance and Administrative Services, and Sr. Carmen G. Pascual, DC, AVP for Nursing Service.

The New Vision—Mission was blessed by Fr. Randy Agner, CM, Provincial Director of the Congregation of the Mission, and Dr. Jose Amanse, AVP for Medical Services, led all staff and personnel in pronouncing the New Vision—Mission.

The New Vision – Mission was crafted to ensure that the Hospital continue to excel both in the local and regional levels and that the dream of St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Marillac in serving the poor remain and continue in each and every heart of MSH employee/personnel.
