The Mother Seton Hospital Community celebrated the Feast Day of its Patroness, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, January 4, 2010. St. Elizabeth is the first United States born canonized saint in the Roman Catholic Church. She was a dedicated volunteer in charitable organizations, an educator and a catechist and had two great devotions: abandonment to the will of God and an ardent love for the Blessed Sacrament . To survive the initial difficulties of running a hospital, the Daughters of Charity needed a model of fortitude and they found it in the life of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.
Mass was held in her honor at the St. Louis de Marillac Chapel. Fr. Venerando Agner, CM, the Provincial Director of the Congregation of the Mission , was the main presider and was assisted by Fr. Vong Navarro, CM, Fr. Sonny Guadalupe, and Fr. Dan Tuason.
After the mass, the Hospital Administration awarded two of its employees who have retired after thirty years of dedicated service. They are: Mr. Lorenzo Labiccasi III, Admitting –Information Clerk (March 1, 1979 – February 28, 2009), and Mr. Juan Trinidad, Maintenance Supervisor (November 15, 1979 – November 14, 2009).
